Diagnostic Assessment
A full diagnostic assessment is a comprehensive assessment to diagnose dyslexia and can only be carried out by a suitably qualified professional (Specialist Assessor Level 7 or Educational Psychologist).
This detailed assessment takes between 2-4 hours and looks at the strengths and weaknesses of the individual. This is the only type of assessment that can diagnose dyslexia or other specific learning difficulties. This report will provide the individual with a greater understanding of their learning profile and the opportunity to reflect on how this impacts upon their learning, study or work.
There is no single test to diagnose dyslexia, rather a series of tests are used to gather a detailed picture of skills to develop a profile of underlying ability, reading and cognitive skills such as memory and processing speed. The report will provide details on the nature and severity of any difficulties identified and will include detailed recommendations for support and ways of working.
